That seems to be helping that individual who was in the system get to a better position in life, and just as importantly, help treat taxpayers with the respect they deserve so someone is not living off their tax dollars who is able-bodied.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for having this hearing and for our witnesses and the chairman for his work in this area, extensive work in this area.
I am asking you about Maine because Maine has done it. That is the one experiment we have that I think is working win-win-win.
But they did get a job so that is a good thing and they are no longer living off the taxpayer.
The American people had a right to get the facts regarding the IRS targeting, and the IRS had a duty to comply with the congressional investigation.
The Internal Revenue Service, and the power that it has over American citizens' lives, systematically targeted fellow citizens for their political beliefs.
Is it acceptable for the head of one of the most powerful agencies in government to operate under a lower standard of conduct than that which is applied to the taxpayers?
This sorry train of false statements and dereliction of duty represents an affront to the authority of this House.
If a taxpayer destroyed documents subject to a summons by the IRS, the taxpayer would be in a world of hurt.
