“Madam President, I would like to express my appreciation to the minority leader and the minority whip for all of the courtesies they have extended to me over the last number of years. One of the things, Mitch, I have enjoyed doing is getting to know you and Elaine. I watched you become the leader. I think you have done an outstanding job of keeping your team together. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that, that we were able to keep an open dialogue on many of the issues in front of the United States of America. I wish to applaud the minority leader for reaching out to the President.
