Jerrold Lewis Nadler is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 10th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented New York's 8th congressional district from 1992 to 2013. Throughout his tenure, Nadler has been known for his work on issues related to civil rights, judiciary matters, and government oversight. He has played a significant role in various legislative efforts and has been an outspoken advocate for progressive policies.
I want to first thank the Chair of the Immigration and Claims Subcommittee, Congresswoman Lofgren, not only for agreeing to hold this joint hearing.
I would hope that this hearing has been productive and conducive to passing this legislation so that both the victims, the heroes of 9/11, and the contractors, who were also both heroes and victims, can be dealt with fairly and decently…
I ask all of you, and all members of Congress, to appreciate both the substantive importance of this bill as well as the need to move it quickly to passage.
This bill would make it available for payouts to people who do not opt into the VCF.
