We have to make sure we are adapting to changing circumstances.

In my short remaining time, I just want to switch to military readiness as a member of House Armed Services.

Part of that needs to be--with everything that is going on in the border, part of that is about the drug interdiction, sector by sector.

Last year we had two pieces of legislation that I know of where we could have changed our policies to help stop this flow of the smugglers exploiting migrants. But not one of my Democratic colleagues voted yes.

I am very happy to hear today from both the Chairman and the Committee Chairman that they are actually acknowledging that there is a crisis now.

Now, fortunately, we have in the Senate some type of potential agreement to fund the humanitarian crisis over there at least, which has been rejected I think 17 times by my Democrat colleagues in the House.

As Congress looks at what and how to fund this humanitarian crisis, as much information about this position will be helpful.

I am hopeful because FPS must succeed.

In order to ensure that we don't have repeats of these unfortunate circumstances, we must fully equip and resource FPS.

The Nation is currently honoring its law enforcement officers as part of National Police Week.
