We will put more American soldiers in the crosshairs of sectarian violence, create more targets. I just don't believe this makes sense.

You didn't provide the leadership. Even -- even with structural infirmities, strong leadership can overcome that. And, clearly, that wasn't the case here.
We know from the Declaration of Independence, our government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed.
I really think that we have to do this outside the kind of intensive partisan political atmosphere that we are in now.
I also believe, by the way, that transparency must be kind of a central theme to reform.

What is at stake here is clearly the credibility of the institution, and credibility is the foundation upon which the institution is built.
I never believed that taxpayers had to pay for everything. I never believed the taxpayers were responsible for all the growth and development.
As we sit here today on the 9th day of June, is it the Department's intention to require a passport for all air and sea travel to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America by the end of the year?
But is it then clear that you will take into account the delay, that you will have a full period for people to respond, that those responses will be carefully and thoughtfully evaluated and will factor into any final decision?
