But any attempt to label programs that are designed to promote economic opportunity or help struggling Americans as 'welfare' doesn't move us toward that goal.
I believe they want to work. They want to set an example for their kids and do right by their kids.
What I think we need to be focused on is a very specific conversation about how to make those programs under our jurisdiction... actually move more people with existing resources from welfare to work.
We are not where we need to be, but that is one topic that we will continue to push pretty aggressively.
These reports, including today's testimony, of targeting by the IRS of organizations based on their political views, religion, or opposition to the Administration's policies is certainly unacceptable.
