I actually think that is a stupid rule, and whoever put that rule together should change it.
The mission of FHA, as I understand it, has always been to the more moderate-income people who might have difficulty getting into the housing market.
So for those of us who are concerned about it, instead of just saying, oh, the environmentalists are all the problem, let's throw them out, if you do that, fine, you are going to lose again and we will lose, those are of us who actually…
We should figure out what is right, what we need, what is good for the future of this country and do it.
I also want to state very clearly that if the chairman or anybody else wants to put the bill out that this committee put out last cycle, we should do it today, get it on the Floor, get it through.
The important thing here is that homeownership is an important part of the American dream.
The question shouldn't be on how much the house cost; it should be on whether the borrower can afford to pay.
At this very moment FHA has $30.4 billion worth of cash ready and available to cover it.
