It seems to me that today's subcommittee hearing shows that we are well past the point of glossing over the problem and, again, saying the taboo words 'all options are on the table.'

Yet another option, tolling. Let's deal with that one and see where the American people stand on tolling.

I think it is important for us all to understand that we are talking about something that has a huge benefit to those of us that live in rural populations and, again, benefits the urban centers so they can get across those rural areas.

I think we have to get past that to talk about other things.

I have been working with and plan to work with Ranking Member DeFazio and my Democratic colleagues to develop a plan that does attract bipartisan support.

Fixing the Highway Trust Fund for the future and modernizing how we fund infrastructure in this country must be part of the solution.

An infrastructure plan must be a bipartisan plan if it is going to pass Congress.

Don't you think it is a fair thing to ask how they pay their women, how they pay their African Americans, how they pay their Hispanics, if it is based on fairness or if it is based on some degree of discrimination?

But as we talked about earlier, some degree of equitable distribution of the benefits of a good economy is your job.

I would ask, is the Fed interested in all, would you be interested in pursuing something--you oversee 7,000 entities, some of them large, some of them small, most of them pretty large.

A good economy for three people doesn't help for the 300 and some odd million people that live here.
