Bill Keating is an American politician currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 9th congressional district, a position he has held since January 3, 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Keating has focused on issues such as national security, veterans' affairs, and economic development throughout his tenure. He has been an advocate for policies aimed at supporting local businesses and improving infrastructure in his district.

The topic is extremely important, not simply for the well-being of the industry and for preserving their competitiveness in the international arena, but for our national security as a whole.
The fishing industry is a central part of Massachusetts' and New England's history, and remains a vital economic lifeline of our local communities.
I really think there is no real reason not to move in that direction. It is just good common sense.
My colleagues from Massachusetts, Barney Frank and Bill Keating, have put forward two bills that would direct additional money to fishery assessments, and I support that.
