House Republicans will also continue our steadfast support for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and will fight any attempts to diminish or weaken the law, which has served our country well for over 25 years.
I stand with all House Republicans, and any Democrats willing to put aside politics in the best interest of the people, to defend religious freedom and the rights of religious minorities to worship freely.
As former President Jimmy Carter once explained, the electoral system cannot inspire public confidence if no safeguards exist to deter or detect fraud, or to confirm the identity of voters.
Looks to me like it was to protect those who were giving the campaign contributions to those who were passing the laws.
Regardless, I thank both of my colleagues in advance for their testimony, and I hope we can all work together to protect the Constitution of the United States.
All the sacrifices, the blood and the sweat and the tears that were put in by John Lewis and all those other legends and patriots and heroes will not be forgotten.
That is why I was proud to introduce H.R. 1075, the Supreme Court Ethics Act, which would require a code of ethics for the Supreme Court.
I would like to turn to the second principle framing today's hearing, that no one can be a judge of their own case.
