American manufacturing still has great strength and potential. It boasts the highest productivity in the world; it employs 11 million people, and produces $1.7 trillion annually.
Manufacturing is critical for our Nation. It is essential for national security so that we don't need to rely on other countries for our defense.
I think one of the things that we really have to look at is: we invest a tremendous amount in research.
