Barack Obama
The Public Record
Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Obama is known for his signature policies including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and his efforts in economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis. His presidency was marked by significant legislative achievements and a focus on healthcare reform, climate change, and foreign policy initiatives such as the Iran nuclear deal.
You see, I think Senator McCain just doesn't get it - he doesn't get that this crisis on Wall Street hit Main Street a long time ago.
We need a President who will fight for the middle class every single day, and that's exactly what I'll do when I'm President of the United States.
I will eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses and start-ups - that's how we'll grow our economy and create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow.
If the American people are being asked to pay for the solution to this crisis, then you have a right to make sure that your tax dollars are protected.
We need to stop giving those tax cuts to corporations and CEOs on Wall Street, and start standing up for families out on Main Street.
I will finally keep the promise of affordable, accessible health care for every single American.
