It is an honor and a pleasure for me to chair the I&O Subcommittee for this Congress, and it is a position that I do not take lightly.

I would be remiss if I did not address the clear privacy issues.

I hope so. We have seen all those e-mails, but several relating to the state of the unlined computer code haven't received as much attention.

Energy is the live blood of the American economy.

I believe very firmly that if a nation cannot feed itself, cannot clothe itself, and is not energy independent, it is not a secure nation.

The Department of Energy was founded during the Carter Administration as we all know to make us energy independent. It has been a dismal failure in that charge.

The United States is the only nation on earth that forbids development of its own god given natural resources.
