Ron Dion DeSantis is an American politician and attorney serving as the 46th governor of Florida since January 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented Florida's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018. DeSantis has focused on various issues during his governorship, including education reform, environmental policies, and public health initiatives, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Everyone in the media was saying Florida was going to be like New York or Italy. And that has not happened.

If we get to the point where people think that we are on the other side of this, and we can get kids back in, even if it's for a couple weeks, we think there would be value in that.
You can't just dump foreigners or foreign nationals here in South Florida.
Imagine if a woman has a difficult labor but had to travel hours to a healthcare facility.
