Mr. Speaker, it is truly a distinct honor and privilege to pay tribute to one of Miami-Dade County's great ecclesiastical leaders, the Rev. Dr. G. David Horton, on his 20th Year Anniversary as Pastor of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church.
Rev. Dr. Horton truly represents the best and the noblest of God's Chosen Ones.
As a man of God and as an indomitable leader in our community, he has rightfully earned our deepest respect and genuine admiration.
I have introduced H.R. 762. This bill expands and intensifies the research effort of the NIH to diagnose, treat, and eventually cure lupus.
Mr. Speaker, I rise to welcome to Washington the members of the Lupus Foundation of America, and my friend and Chairman of the Lupus Foundation of America--Mr. Terry Bell.
We can and must do more this year to conquer lupus, while offering treatment and protection against financial devastation to the victims of lupus.
Mr. Barrett has made tremendous contributions to the strengthening of community life in Miami's African-American neighborhoods, as well as those of Little Haiti and Little Havana.
Mr. Barrett's heartfelt compassion and positive impact upon Miami's vulnerable youth are such that 97% of the young people freely choose to remain at the counseling centers longer than the thirty days' mandatory commitment.
Mr. Barrett continuously has made himself available to aiding Miami's citizens at all hours, both at home and at his office.
Through his extraordinary respect for others and his committed spirit, Ivan Barrett embodies the ethos of active citizenship.
