Christopher Dodd is a former U.S. Senator from Connecticut, serving from 1981 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, Dodd was known for his work on issues such as health care, education, and financial regulation. He played a significant role in the passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which aimed to prevent the kind of financial crisis that occurred in 2008. Dodd also served as the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, where he was influential in shaping policies related to housing and banking.
This is a very important opportunity and an important moment, maybe the most important those of us ever will serve during our tenure in this Congress.
We cannot restore the credibility of our financial institutions and put our economy back on track until we restore the credibility of the Government's response.
Let me commend my colleague from Nebraska. We have new members of this committee who are just tremendously valuable and I include my colleague from Nebraska; just very, very good, excellent questions.
Americans want the plan to work. My colleagues want it to work. I believe all of us do.

My hope is we would be looking... at someone who clearly has the background in making things.
