I would like to get some extent, because without conditionality we did not see this happen.

The Public Record
I am grateful for the administration's commitment... to this path of transparency and accountability, which is job number one, I think, for the American people.
If the estimates are correct, we are looking at a gap of some $2 trillion over the next several years.
If, in fact, we do not have the kind of transparency that you are talking about, our constituents will not permit us to put up the money.
If we have learned anything from 2008, we have learned that our regulatory system is broken down and it is in need of comprehensive reform.
If I could just ask--thank you for the answer. I am more concerned with whether or not there is a set of priorities that relate to the characteristics of the firm itself.
One thing is clear: The failure of our regulators has severely undermined the American people's confidence in the integrity of our capital markets.
If there was ever a time in our Nation's history where the public needs to rely on the regulators to know that their investments are safe and secure and that the regulators are doing their job, it is now.
This committee will face head-on the challenge of responding to an economy in crisis.
I join you on behalf of the many Coloradans affected by the Bernie Madoff investment scandal.
