For them to recognize that we have terrorist organizations which -- who are dangerous by themselves, are now being supported by radical Islamic governments, i.e., the Iranians.
John McCain
The Public Record
John McCain was a prominent American politician and military officer who served as a United States Senator from Arizona from 1987 until his death in 2018. A member of the Republican Party, McCain was known for his bipartisan approach and commitment to national security. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a prisoner of war for over five years, an experience that shaped his political career and views on military and foreign policy.

The new language in S. 2686 approaches the spirit of S. 1294 and looks to accomplish the same goals.
I think Senator Burns, has raised that. Senator Dorgan, when he made his intro, talked about incentivizing innovation and providing for competition.
We strongly support S. 1294, the Community Broadband Act, sponsored by Senators Lautenberg and McCain.
And maybe some of our friends who want to cut and run out of Iraq maybe can feel a little comforted that our mission is showing some success.
Things that happen like this are always harmful, and as far as public opinion is concerned, and disappointing to many Americans.
