What we really have been doing with the Postal Service is requiring them to maintain this universal network.

We cannot afford to be here a year from now discussing how we can dig ourselves out of yet another Postal crisis.

One of my top goals since I joined this Committee 400 years ago---- No, 15 years ago--has been to address these challenges and to help the Postal Service find a way to thrive in the 21st Century.

I look forward to working with our colleagues in the weeks ahead to promptly enact Postal reform legislation.

Senator Carper's bill would require an assessment of the USO.

It is just not fair. It is not right.

I have seen tragically firsthand in my hometown of Wilmington what a dramatic spike in gun violence can do to disrupt a town and a community to wreak destruction and pain and loss on families and whole neighborhoods.
