In the meantime there is suffering, and for those of us who still have dreams of a two-state solution one day--and I have been in Congress for a long time, but it seems that cutting off all aid takes us backwards and doesn't move forward in a positive direction.

I cannot imagine the compassion that you talked about earlier in dealing with drug addicts. I cannot imagine where the compassion would come from where we would write a rule that would put 55,000 children, kicked them out into the street.
