There is no greater need than to combat climate change, and the committee at least begin against America's commitment to leadership goals in global climate change.
As long as I have been part of this subcommittee, we have had bipartisan agreement that foreign assistance is critical to our national security and to maintaining America's leadership role in the world.
The administration cannot be successful in these initiatives if we under or defund the basics, which is exactly what the proposed 20 percent cut to our foreign assistance programs would do.
I urge this Subcommittee to continue its longstanding support for critical people-to-people and peacebuilding programming.
