Mr. Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume. Mr. Speaker, I feel compelled to address the specific example that was just brought forward about a mining exclusion in the Grand Canyon because I believe that the exclusion that we are talking about was to mine uranium in the Grand Canyon. Now, I ask the American people: Is that what you would like to see? In New Mexico, we know the legacy of uranium mining. Our communities are dying from it, the mining communities whose water has been poisoned for generations and those who have been impacted by the materials that were built from that uranium. That is why Congresswoman Leger Fernandez has been leading an effort that is bipartisan and bicameral with our colleagues from New Mexico to get a RECA amendment passed in this Chamber so that we can help address those communities. That is why we should not be mining uranium in the Grand Canyon. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
