Mr. Speaker, I move to suspend the rules and pass the bill (H.R. 1420) to amend the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 to promote energy efficiency via information and computing technologies, and for other purposes, as amended. The Clerk read the title of the bill. The text of the bill is as follows: H.R. 1420 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Energy Efficient Government Technology Act''. SEC. 2. ENERGY-EFFICIENT AND ENERGY-SAVING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES. (a) In General.--Subtitle C of title V of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (Public Law 110-140; 121 Stat. 1661) is amended by adding at the end the following: ``SEC. 530. ENERGY-EFFICIENT AND ENERGY-SAVING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES. ``(a) Definitions.--In this section: ``(1) Director.--The term `Director' means the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. ``(2) Information technology.--The term `information technology' has the meaning given that term in section 11101 of title 40, United States Code.…
