When I was sworn in the Marine Corps in 1964 and I was sworn into Congress, I swore to uphold the Constitution against enemies, both foreign and domestic. We have a lot of domestic enemies of -- of the Constitution, those who want to pervert it, those who want to change it.

To me it is expanding the authority and reach of the EPA and that is the reason there is so much discontent.

I look forward to the testimony from each of the witnesses. But importantly, this Committee needs to hear how we are going to get out of the way and let EPA do its job of producing assessments of chemicals that are suspected of and may be causing harm to our constituents and our communities.
