Mr. Speaker, I rise today to shine the spotlight on a Miami constituent who courageously risked his life for a stranger. Last Tuesday, on his way to work, William Ramirez witnessed Miami Police Officer Rosny Obas become pinned down under a hail of gunfire. Mr. Ramirez bravely swerved his van into the line of fire to shield Officer Obas, then was able to get the officer to safety. When asked why he did it, William humbly said, ``How could I not?'' I say William Ramirez is a hero. South Florida is blessed by the service of patrolmen like Officer Obas, who work every day to keep us safe, and we are further strengthened by residents like William Ramirez, who sometimes add heroic action to their everyday routines because it is simply the right thing to do. How could we not? ____________________
