“Mr. Speaker, I rise today because it's time to put an end to the pointless, partisan games. The Affordable Care Act has now been passed by a duly elected Congress, signed by the President and upheld as constitutional--despite the chagrin of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle and their best efforts--upheld as constitutional by the United States Supreme Court. More importantly, Americans, and particularly south Floridians, are already benefiting from this law. Thanks to the closing of the coverage gap, the doughnut hole, seniors in my district can now afford their prescription drugs instead of having to choose which ones they have to leave behind at the pharmacy because they can't afford to take them all home when they fall in the doughnut hole. And young adults have the security of staying on their parents' plan until the age of 26. As a cancer survivor and a mother, this law is important to me because through it, the nearly 4 million Floridians who don't currently have health insurance will be able to get the coverage that they need. Mr. Speaker, this is our 31st vote to repeal all or part of the Affordable Care Act. It is time to stop the tantrums, grow up and work together on Americans' number one priority--creating jobs and getting this economy turned around.…”
