Mr. President, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Presiding Officer to the U.S. Senate. I hadn't had a chance, really, to do that, as you sit in the chair. We are now going to get somebody else, but I thank the Presiding Officer for being here. (Mr. HUSTED assumed the Chair.) I also want to thank my colleague from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Senator Kaine, for his heartfelt remarks. I think we are through the looking glass in many ways, and there is a pattern here that is reflected in what you were talking about, this idea of being able to tell the difference between fact and fiction-- fact and fiction. I know that when you were the mayor of Richmond, it was probably pretty important for people who were working with you to know the difference between fact and fiction. When you were the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, it probably was pretty important for you to do that as well. It does seem like, in President Trump's administration, he is really at war with the facts and trying to muddle what is fact and fiction, to be kind about it. I can't think of a time in the history of this country when families have wanted to know more about what is real and what is false--with their kids, what is real and what is false.…
