“Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize the determination of Little Rock native, Melvin Williams. A terrible and unfortunate injury in high school ended his football dreams. His grades slipped, and Melvin dropped out of school. Years later, Melvin had earned his high school diploma at a program at Goodwill Industries. The Excel Center at Goodwill is a fully accredited and cost-free public high school in Little Rock for adults 19 and older. Not only is Mr. Williams now working toward a business degree at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Tech, he is one of Goodwill's newest employees.
