I think it's something that should be raised, particularly with a country like Luxembourg that is a relatively wealthy country in Europe.

I think some of us think that if we could design our democracy again, we could probably put in a required percentage for women's participation.

I think it's helpful to have an alternative that's better.

In addition to appliance standards what are other areas where we should be focusing on in terms of energy efficiency gains to achieve the greatest savings?

Can you talk about whether you see a role for combined heat and power and waste heat recovery systems in a clean energy standard?

The fact is our light bulbs, our current, old incandescent light bulbs are the most inefficient, one of the most inefficient appliances we have in our homes.

So if we were going to go forward and try and include energy efficiency as part of a clean energy standard how would you suggest we do that?

I think it behooves us all not to engage in name calling of those officials who are trying to carry out the work.

I think all of us here recognize how critical an issue that is for the country.

I very much appreciated and am in agreement with your comments, that not only do we have to look at the spending side of our budget, and entitlements and defense are a big piece of that, but we also need to look at revenues and tax reform.

In New Hampshire we have a very significant defense industry that has been doing a lot of cutting edge research.

I think Pease National Guard Base is one of the places that you should look at very carefully.

This program has been supported by congressionally-directed spending--earmarks--which are not likely to continue.

I would just hope, Secretary Mabus and all of you, that you will take those recommendations very seriously.
