I agree, that is a step in the right direction, but as has been pointed out, that device is available on the market in other countries.

I was pleased to see that the National Homebuilders are supportive of these provisions.

It is voluntary. It's not a mandate.

But by far the greatest potential impact of this bill is from the provision on building energy codes.

the electric motor rebate program in Senator Shaheen's bill would be very meaningful to us.

I commend Senators Portman, as well as Shaheen, for their work on S. 1000, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2011.

If we harness those resources, and more of the resources in the Gulf of Mexico and the Rocky Mountain West, we'd dramatically increase our energy security.

The bill is designed to take a number of these provisions that have been worked on and have been successful in the private sector.
