So let me start out by stating that I do not deny climate change. I'm just not a climate change alarmist.

We've wasted at least $6.2 trillion and had no impact whatsoever.

My viewpoint is I don't think there's anything we can really do about it.

the reality is China and India are not going to stop using fossil fuels.

By the United Nation's own models, if the U.S. were to completely go carbon neutral, that would only impact global temperatures by .3 degrees Fahrenheit by the Year 2100.

Rather than spend trillions of dollars trying to hold back the tide, we're far better off using limited resources to alleviate human suffering in a different way.

We can't ignore the business practices of the companies that have come before us today.

If we are going to make good policy, we have to have more transparency, and it is why I am glad this Committee is working on measures to achieve that.

That is not an answer I can provide to my constituents who struggle with this.

We are taking, Mr. Chair, some steps in the right direction, Mr. Ranking Member, in the legislation that we will be working on tomorrow in this Committee.

I am concerned, looking at your testimony, that you may be trying to skip a generation like the rest of the Biden administration is doing in an impractical manner.

We need to understand where we are at, and how these things work.

We need a way of clarifying when and where our current regulators should have jurisdiction over the existing market.

Please get me that information. And then we can have a real honest discussion instead of throwing around talking points.

So, if we can get a younger person, 18 years old, send him to school, or her to school, get a CDL, and they are walking out with zero college debt earning $60,000 a year, that is a hell of a good deal.

Could you see a situation in which, say, a bank is kind of muscled into giving out more loans to people who have not saved money, for example?

Can you commit to meeting that deadline?
