I have a little bit of experience with regional water authorities because I used to chair the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority.

We want to have clean water for everyone.

I just really don't want to lose sight of that.

I especially want to thank the New Mexico congressional delegation for enabling us to achieve this settlement.

Is it clear, or would you agree with the statement that the Administration understands the importance of the settlements between New Mexico and the tribes as it relates to the limitations of water resources in both cases?

I hope that we can get some assurance, maybe from the Bureau, that they would be willing to meet with some of the parties to be able to resolve some of the issues that it sounds like we are closer to than not today.

The Citizens of our county have no control or oversight over tribal representatives, development, and countless other issues.

I am strongly in favor of additional water development and believe that the project contemplated by this legislation will be a boon to the entire region.

Our water resources are precious in New Mexico. Without a reliable water supply, we cannot improve human health, protect our cultures and traditions, or grow economies.

I would like to thank Speaker Lujan and Governor Richardson for following through on that funding.

We urge passage of the Taos Pueblo Indian Water Rights Settlement Act, H.R. 3254.

I believe we must improve oversight, but in a responsible manner that doesn't over burden honest applicants.

We face a fate worse than oil dependence--global oil scarcity.

Our oil dependence is fully recognized as a national security problem.

I am hoping that you being able to speak and me giving up my time to you, that you may be able to persuade some of your former colleagues on the other side of the importance of doing climate change legislation.

Balancing future supply and demand is impossible given the geologically finite supply of oil.
