Our public money, their money, should not be used to aid Iran's quest for nuclear weapons.

This bill removes the hurdles that so many pension boards have constructed to prevent divestment.

I believe that we must do everything we can. I don't want to look back at a time when the Iranians have nuclear weapons to wish that we could have done more.

The only way to effectively convince our foreign companies to make the same decision to leave Iran... is to help them understand that we, through our pension funds, do not support the positions and the investments that they are making.

That is exactly the kind of success that we will be able to have if this bill passes and States and local governments are able to divest.
