I rise to ask, what happened to the party of Teddy Roosevelt? What happened to the party that helped us adopt, under Richard Nixon's leadership, the Clean Air Act? What happened to the Republican Party that used to be allied in the adoption of the clean air rules that have so helped the health of Americans? It is deeply disappointing that our Republican colleagues are so willing, able--and apparently eager--to shut down the government. This bill fundamentally shuts down the government. It shuts down the ability of the Environmental Protection…
I thank the gentleman. The gentleman suggested that our amendment added $50 million. I know it was unintentional. We would only ask an additional $20 million. I just want to make that clear for the record.
